Age Groups
Tiny Tigers are 4-6 Years old
Juniors are 7-13 Years Old
ALL students will need to become a Black Belt Club member
after reaching Camo Belt, as this program will be a part of
the regular class curriculum.
Tiny Tigers
Children aged 4-6 can begin their journey into Songahm Taekwondo through
Dickinson's Tiny Tiger program. The central theme at Dickinson's Karate for Kids is,
Every kid is a winner, every kid is special. This theme is present in every aspect of
Tiny Tiger taekwondo. Every student is encouraged, there are no losers, as there
are with other sports.
Junior color belt and Black belt training
In the Karate for Kids program, children ages 7-12 learn the same skills as the
Tiny Tigers, and expand on them. They work on developing responsibility and courtesy,
as well as perseverance and leadership. Along with these life skills, they learn
self-defense through various taekwondo techniques and applications. This instills
self-confidence in them, while improving their coordination, balance and flexibility.
In addition, at Dickinson's Karate for Kids, all kids participate; there is no sitting on the bench.
However, while taekwondo is essentially an individual sport, students also gain the benefits
of cooperating as a team. Each student is taught to encourage each other, resulting in a
camaraderie and respect among all of the students.
Adult color belt and Black belt training
Since you're never too old to begin martial arts, Song Ahm Taekwondo is also great for
adults of all ages. Everything learned in taekwondo class carries over into everyday
life. While adults learn various self-defense techniques through kicks, strikes,
blocks and forms, they also gain the same self-confidence, respect, personal victory,
perseverance and leadership qualities as the younger students.
A great form of exercise, taekwondo works the cardiovascular system as well as develops
muscle strength and tone, flexibility, balance and coordination.
Black Belt Club featuring Protech Weapons Training
Another exciting aspect of taekwondo training for members of our Black Belt Club is the
opportunity to learn weapons training with the Ssahng Jeol Bahng (nunchucks),
Bahng Mahng Ee (single escrima stick), and basic Jahng Bong (long staff).
ATA Extreme / XMA
Students in our Leadership Program are taking traditional taekwondo to the the
extreme — ATA Xtreme. ATA Xtreme is an elite level of training that blends
many martial art styles together with high-flying acrobatics and fast action!
The goal of XMA is to use the skills our students have developed and challenge
them to become better than they thought possible.
Leadership Program
What makes an effective leader? What are the qualities of effective communicators?
These and many more questions are areas we focus on in the leadership class.
The goal of this program is to train future leaders. Not just leaders on the taekwondo
floor, but in the classroom, at home and in our community. Aside from our physical training,
we focus on developing communication skills, decision-making skills, active
problem solving, and speaking in front of a group.
ATA instructors are more than “karate teachers”. We are actively making a positive
impact on our community, “one black belt at a time”.
